its very difficult to extract a rational argument out of all that froth that looks like something found via /pol/ archiver because a mod nuked it right away. if you've already decided that the opinions of others you're talking to are 'jew propaganda' or chomsky quotes, i can only conclude that you continue on with this because you're extremely bored.

What's changed in the internet era is the pace and reach of ideas, however foolish and wrong. We see how this makes things worse much faster (hopeless miscalculation of the masses in the Arab Spring). Can it also accelerate progress and resolution?

By the way, your patience with omen is amazing. I really hope he is a troll.

Yes, good point, Jin, to roll back discussion. I don't know how much depth we can reach without getting some reliable information first, so another interesting question concerns information courses:

what are you guys reading to inform yourselves on any (or all) of these topics? Let's start from the sources.

So... this is the world we live in now. Hopefully this is the kick in the arse that the democratic party needed to start seriously reforming itself. But I'm not holding my breath.

I am in a state of complete shock -- not in the sense that I didn't see how this could come about given the circumstances; we made the bed we are lying in -- but just emotional incomprehension. Subways this morning were eerily silent. The entire city is in mourning. I wish this were a nightmare we could wake up from.

I hope this will be a turning point from which we can recover. I am ready to fight for an America I can be proud of. For a few days, however, I am absconding with family to more quiet surroundings, to catch up on lost sleep, to indulge in small things that bring me joy, and simply to recuperate.

Yes. Funny how easy it is to predict these disasters and how difficult it is to stop them.
