we are in the middle of the rainy season. japan has it for about 40 days.
but you shouldn't hesitate to go hiking. there are transparent flowers you'd come across only this time of the year and only in the rain.

Perspective Distortion in World War I Camouflage

Fascinating article detailing the efficacy of dazzle paint in wwi naval warfare, and tracing its genealogy from da Vinci to Holbein to modern times. Had always wondered how effective the stuff was, aside from looking phenomenally badass—apparently, it worked quite well, even when tested on people who understood the mechanics of the effect.

The article ends with a note about how it's unclear whether dazzle paint has any applications in naval warfare today (probably not), but leaves unaddressed several begged questions about facial recognition software. A quick google, and I realized I'd already read an article about this from a few years ago. Nod to Chalayan in there, too.
