rilu, I want to say that your Rick Owens and Comme des Garçons threads partly spurred my suggestion because I felt it was a shame they were lost among other threads. I was mainly concerned with whether I should post seasonal collections because I didn't want them to obscure other threads' visibility in the "general discussion" forum.

merz, I understand what you're saying. How about merely transposing the designer threads into a separate forum? And posting a new designer in said forum wouldn't necessitate pictures of a whole seasonal collection.

Sounds good, we'll work out a format shortly.
I agree with what you are saying and maybe it is time we have some kind of structure for referencing the work itself separately from discussion of the work taking place elsewhere. These separate reference threads will be linked into corresponding discussion threads that already exist.

so i'll readily admit to intermittent vacuity but have we always had a favicon for the title page, or is this new?

what is it? it looks like the starbucks logo.

edit: it is the starbucks logo. :?

I get it sometimes, but it's never the starbucks logo
It's normally just whatever the logo of the site I've previously visited is, for example the Guardian's "g" or the facebook logo. Right now it's the Gmail logo

Perhaps it's a chrome thing, is anyone running different browsers experiencing similar things?

small note: previously-attached images are currently broken as the host is migrating the forum to new hardware and the images will soon be restored.

I'm not exactly sure where this should go so ill put it here for now.

I work as a cook, I am currently freelance catering which means I get to see a lot of different kitchen environments and work with a lot of different people and types of food. Before this I was a line cook at some small restaurants doing home style cooking in Montreal where I used to live.

Within the past year I have learned a lot about food, in the broadest sense, and am still learning. I approach clothing in a similiar way to food. Will I enjoy it, was it made with care and respect, how does it effect me directly and my environment indirectly. I am not a purist, I eat meat from local farms, and I organically when I can. The most important thing to me is local and not from a large box grocery store.

I cook at home a lot and on weekends my roommate, my partner and I make a larger dinner and usually invite a friend or two. The process of cooking is usually as enjoyable as the finished meal specially when I try something I have never tried before.

Anyways when I have seen discussions of food on certain other forums it has mostly been instagram like photos of a meal at an expensive restaurant, which I am not opposed to necessarily as long as there is discussion to accompany it.
So if there is anyone else interested in discussing food in this broad way then we can figure out a thread title.

Sure, that's an interesting topic, just start a thread (you can change the thread name at a later point if you find a better one ;)

Seconded. Just had a discussion with someone about Schwartz's not one hour ago (never been meself).

Would also not mind any discussions of cocktails or beers. We're but a humble size. Probably a combined food & drinks thread would be best.

Edit: I have your title.

i'm all for it if someone wants to take ownership of a subject and provide some kind of an intro that also gives future participants some sense of what participation in the thread entails, what the expectations are in terms of post quality. nothing wrong with the idea itself, we're open to discussing a broad range of things on here.

Went ahead and created that thread. If there's anything I should change to the intro let me know. I'm fairly excited about this, as I think it's a subject I can contribute to more than others.

first off, i'm sorry to do this. riley, since this was brought up by Looking, I was very much ..looking forward to having them take the ownership of that thread to the extent they had expressed here. It seemed appropriate to let them take the lead, possibly with less fat bastard references. In part because I was hoping they'd set the tone for the discourse with the original thought that prompted this person to make a comment about starting such a thing in the first place. I can already hear june telling me to take it easy.
