me too, since the cat is having a vegan meal nonetheless! hahaha

speaking of cats, i used to take care of one huge black cat for some 9 months last year (while the friends who have him were abroad), i'll try to dig out some pics to contribute.

c, i'm familiar with the book - i just haven't seen that particular set of illustrations, although that most certainly was Begemot, there is no mistaking him. Could have googled it but decided to ask the poster, there's no need to reply with a wikipedia link, shit's pure bad tone.

^simply amazing

merz, i'm afraid to report that i just googled "margarita behemoth," and posted the first cool image that popped up, from this blog postthat has some other pretty good ones. behemoth is, not surprisingly, one of those figures that inspires endless representations, and quite rightfully so... the image i'm personally acquainted with is from peter suart's wonderful illustrations, which are in my folio society copy (english) of the book:

rilu, i'm afraid behemoth is definitively not vegan, that black dish is liable to be caviar; as it seems the devil's cohort, much like cats in general, is no respecter of animals

^ ahh, i was misled by the mushrooms! but it's ok, i always liked his character in the book in any case :) this is in fact the first time i've learned about the illustrations from that book, mine didn't have any.

Jin, your cat looks amazing :D

couldn't help myself. forgive the narrative:
before I moved to where I am now, I lived behind a young couple in their mid-twenties. small ranch house from the fifties, tiny and a screened in porch that kept out nothing. he was earning his phd in nuclear engineering (also studying under a yogi, amazing energy) and she and accomplished architect. they had a surprise and though as sweet and soft as an infant could be, he was a handful. I went up every weekday after my courses finished to take out their dog and help out with whatever needed helping with.
the universe rewarded me with this:

Image

the people next door to them were notable recluses whose great range of pets included a miniature pig and a dauschand who willfully ignored the laws of space and time; he spontaneously appeared swimming in my pond one day only for me to turn around and see that he was gone again. two of this large number were these two cats named oreo-for the black and white cookie-and her unnamed kitten, whom I dubbed 'kit' for simplicity. they were both not keen on human company, but after a good while of dog/baby/house sitting for their young couple neighbors...the pair became partial to my company, to the point where they would trace the path back to my own house a couple blocks off. strays have always followed me around but this was just extreme, they both snuck about and followed me to my front door multiple times. alas, I could never keep either. my three-year old "puppy" (i.e. unapologetically kind mutt) has always taken priority--although her sweet nature and cuteness are points of pride for me, considering this is a cat thread, I will refrain.
kit was the greatest of sweethearts towards me, her stalking tendencies became rather charming after a while. I miss her.

that last photo is my favourite. had laid out a blanket to play with the cats and did a perfect slav squat while doing so, of which kit made a conquest. she just sat there on my pent up lap for a good ten minutes as I readjusted, because i am ninety-nine percent sure you break a cosmic law if you move a comfy cat.
good memories

i brought it up to Ochre mike a while back, and he said he was very excited about the upcoming show. being that he is a massive cat person, that came as no surprise. regretting once again at times that i'm not an nyc resident, but then i'd probably have to see assorted douchebags like the one posting his ass tattoos to instagram..
