thanks for the info, the drawing looks interesting, and reminded me of Berserk immediately (that eye ;). though i must say it's really awful to know he's taking up a new project rather than finishing Berserk! [wall]

not manga i guess, but one of the cleverest treatments of the comic medium i've seen. from alan moore's promethea

In the same vein of playing with the realm within the comic is Furuya Usamura's great work Palepoli.

There is also Shintaro Kago's completely amazing Abstraction which can be read here. And, similarly, his work Blow Up.

there is this nighttime event called "naked festival", translated word for word. but it's a serious religious ritual that takes place annually at this temple around the coldest time of the year. the lights are turned off just at midnight, at the most important moment, when over 9000 polls and their arms/hands and the whole energy are concentrated towards the sacred item. it's like an earthly positive version of the eclipse.

berserk started again last month btw.
for the new king, his dream itself, the throne, didn't matter really. the only thing that he craved for was the existence of what he specifically called a friend, because being addressed by the friend with flame, being an object of the friend's fury instead of pity, was and perhaps still is his ontology. the loss of the friend would be the loss of himself. so I'd expect the ending to be different from that of greek tragedy.

i just watched "serial experiments lain" for the first time (late to the game i know!) and it just does the whole late 90s cyber punk thing so perfectly... if you like stuff more for the mood than the character/plot this is the kinda thing you should see... this is what will play in the background of my internet sessions the rest of my saturday nights alone (which will be innumerable) #depressionwave

phpBB [video]

you can trust-a me...im a certified anime critic!
