Helmut asked me to take a picture of Louise. I asked if it was important to show any objects or clothes and he said, "No, but I made a little crown for her and maybe she'll wear it, maybe she won't."

(thread for helmut lang.)

once there was a story told by a certain retailer in the attic of his tokyo branch gorgeous cozy but now defunct.
according to him, there had been fruitful days carol christian poell was working for helmut lang.
I asked mr sergio simone about this years ago for confirmation. he said it's not true and that he had not heard of it at least.
strictly speaking, it was told by way of an interpreter who was really a japanese film director, not a professional simultaneous interpreter.
it might have been a story that was born in translation.
if it's true instead, it should be when carol was a freelance designer before the launch of ccp srl, somewhere around the early 90's.

anyway if there is something between the two designers for sure, it's schiele.
it was helmut lang who, in order to describe his work, actually mentioned egon schiele.

related to the context;
why is it that helmut was able to show women in bondage gear without a smack of misogyny? why do other designers, like all of these fucking CSM graduates that keep doing these insipid shibari designs, utterly fail here?

I personally believe it's due to the fact Helmut's women's bondage gear was neither a revealing nor sexualized cut. Instead the pieces were actually pretty powerful and accentuated a women's build in a more unisex way. Unfortunately, it seems in today's fashion world buyers want a more "risque" cut for women already daring enough to wear bondage. This defeats the purpose and just further disempowers women in the fashion world by supporting this trend that sees the female body as an object to be sexualized. A lot of these young designers are probably pretty terrified about their collections being unable to sell if they really push a look that isn't trendy unfortunately. It will take a pretty strong individual and financial backing by committed consumers to help steer women's fashion out of this black hole we're currently in.

it's more about the implied intent of the wearer; that they've made a very conscious decision to reveal the crook of their elbow to you and merely, maybe not even tolerate your gaze.

Then it's up to the wearers to embody this persona. That actually made me laugh in public. It's true though, I guess it really does come down to the fashion community at ever level as a whole to take responsibility. Teachers, designers, stores, consumers, and even media need to take a more active role in abolishing this crazy objectification taking place in what clothes we wear.

no. not at all. please find some content or something to say before posting in this thread again.

on the subject of bondage, the word with four letters ...
it played little to absolutely no part in the nativity of the thing. i promise. what you're looking at is organic structura. among what crouka's just posted are skeletons (link.) he himself would and did laugh at all of that, i mean, "s&m," "bondage," ...

maybe worthwhile to get back to the crown for a moment. you had mentioned the story - maybe she'll wear it, maybe she won't. there was an added significance to that from what you had told me later, and perhaps this is the right place for that conversation also.
