glad it was appreciated.

i saw ghedalia recently and it was everything i'd been expecting. moving stuff, and a really warm character too.

after all that warmth, i saw consumer electronics the next night (in the same venue) for the exact inverse.

at the moment i haven't been able to get out and hear much music with work piled on, but probably a good thing for the tinnitus.

though, i just got back from roly porter, raime and john bence. john bence was interesting, ethereal and was musically talented but with overt religious content. it was quite tacky, not my thing. roly porter was playing his neo-classical grandiose electronics - following 'life cycle of a giant star'. the record follows the story of a star as it burns out. the gig was mapped to some strobes and visuals, perhaps to enact the star. but i'm not convinced. it might only because the references are too clear. this is a duff reason though and returns to boring authenticity/ originality discussion.

Really enjoying the latest Field album, might be my favorite since their debut. I love how it starts off, too, sort of an old acid techno vibe like Plastikman.

Been listening to dreamwave, Timecop and Arcade High mostly. I can't resist the nostalgic note that they hit. I'm always fascinated by these kinds of blips of Internet music scenes, hauntology, witch house, dreamwave, seapunk. They pop up as quickly as they disappear, although that doesn't seem to stop artists from putting stuff out in the same vein.

Currently enamored by queercore:

And also this older Dischord band that is new to me. I guess they were making music around the same time as Q and not U but didn't receive as much attention.

And some immature poppy shit to satisfy my inner teen:

the next three things are label previews, set to be released sometime before the end of the year, barring any unexpected delays in production.

all of these records are special stuff, but the first of the bunch feels even more close to home for me. i could describe the sound but what for - you can just listen to the thing above and get a sense of it.

a live recording of an echo-cello duo in a dunedin cathedral commemorating 100 years since the disastrous hill 60 campaign and the senseless losses incurred therein by the otago mounted rifles.

straight outta Lviv. chamber noise excursions into Ukrainian folk motifs and beyond.

coming at you from Last Visible Dog.

Winter's treating us well, flat shook with the hail this morning; hopefully get some pictures out of the fucking "setup".

Musically more so for sure, someone convinced Fat White Family to drop through.
Wasn't sure of what I heard, even less so after seeing the doorcharge. The live show was incredible; worth the 8 dinners I had to pay for it. Miss June (which i finally caught) didn't waver either, still the opening act without mistake.

Puce Mary soon, four weekish away- same routine, hopefully this time round some bandy fucker wont ram his bottom lip into my occipital lobe.

In the meantime, reading about shit eating therapies and potential TB drug targets.

Nothing without bugman69's playlist.

Representing the fiercely pop-oriented minority here. I'm hoping these guys will show up in NY sooner rather than later.

I like both these separately and so together they also sound good, I have been listening to this album a lot this week on rainy bike rides.

I really also like what you posted T-W. The singer has a beautiful voice and all the people in this video are also nice to watch.

hecker has certainly embraced his popularity, which assures me that music being thought of as challenging somehow has infinitely more to do with how much it is perceived as such initially and how much exposure it thereby receives. things of late have been songs of some sort..

It's the singer not the song
That makes the music move along
Oh won't you join together with the band
This is the biggest band you'll find
It's as deep as it is wide
Come on and join together with the band.

1 + 1 = 3.

Very sad to hear of the passing of Pauline Oliveros, only a few days ago she (to my knowledge) was playing at Le Guess Who? festival.

yeah, all of us here are deeply saddened by her passing, as well as that of jean-claude risset on the same day.
2016 has been a very cruel year for the experimental music community the world over.
